Student Highlight: Forrest Wortham

At Tech901, we love getting to know our students on a personal level and we want to share their unique stories with our readers. As we close out 2016, we have one afternoon course with the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Memphis and an evening course hosted by the University of Memphis at the Fogelman College of Business. Enjoy the highlights as we introduce you to our diverse and promising Tech901 students.

Meet Forrest Wortham, born and bred Memphian with a passion for hot yoga and cybersecurity.

Hailing From East Memphis, Forrest went to undergrad at the University of Colorado at Boulder and most recently graduated from Dev Bootcamp last month in Chicago. Like many Tech901 students, he hopes to gain tech job skills training and certifications to find a career in the Information Technology field.

"I really enjoy turning the magic of technology into understanding. Everyone uses some form of technology on a daily basis, but few actually understand how it works behind the scenes."

With the Tech901 course, Forrest gained professional-level understanding of how computers work and learn the guidelines on resolving computer problems.

Beyond the class, learning the Ruby programming language was a proud personal accomplishment. "Being able to understand how a line of code affects what a user sees and is able to do is a magical moment," he shares.

"The CompTIA A+ certification is the first of many doors into a career in the technology industry and I can't wait to see what is on the other side."

When he is not behind a computer screen, Forrest enjoys practicing yoga at Hot Yoga Plus in the Laurelwood Shopping Center. Craft beer and great food also top his list of extra curriculars. His favorite Memphis spot for live music or catching a game is Local on the Square.

Prefering the cyber security and information assurance side of tech, Forrest plans to stick with Tech901 for a while, joining our 2017 classes for CCNA, Security+ and Network+. Interested in more of Tech901 offerings? Check out our upcoming lineup on our Courses page.
