At Tech901, we love getting to know our students on a personal level and we want to share their unique stories with our readers. As we close out 2016, we have one afternoon course with the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Memphis and an evening course hosted by the University of Memphis at the Fogelman College of Business. Enjoy the highlights as we introduce you to our diverse and promising Tech901 students.

Meet Venezia White-Giddings, A+ course student and Memphis foodie.

Currently working full-time as a Material Handler at FedEx Express, Venezia graduated from Southwest Tennessee Community College with an EMT-Basic Certification and an A.S. in Business Administration.

With the knowledge she gains in Tech901's CompTIA A+ course, Venezia hopes to take her newly acquired skills and follow a new career path within the blossoming technology boom in the Mid-South.

"I've always loved technology and how it's constantly evolving.”

After taking an SQL class at Florida A&M, she quickly realized that she could make a career out of her love for tech. Her passion was reignited when she was offered a position on a tech support team on a Microsoft Project. That project? A spot on one of the first Xbox One teams.

“My love for technology and gaming lit up like a spark on a Texas plain! I finally felt like I belonged somewhere.”

Venezia plans to join the Tech901 IT Fellow Program, which consists of CompTIA and Cisco certification courses offered through the Tech901 Academy. “I know that having these certifications will allow me to get the much needed work experience employers want,” she shares.

In addition to the CompTIA A+ certification, the Fellow program includes CCENT, Security+, Cloud+, and Project+.

“I’m on my way to becoming the Memphis Queen of Technology.”

In her free time, you can find Venezia dining out and exploring the various cultural festivals and cuisine options in the 901. Her favorite must-eat restaurants include Sakura in Germantown for sushi (try the Joyce roll) and Booya’s in Collierville for Chipotle shrimp tacos. However, if her three-year-old daughter has a say, it’s Chuck-E-Cheese for dinner tonight.
