Student Highlight: Tecia Marshall

Over the summer, we will highlight a student weekly from our CompTIA A+ certification course at the University of Memphis.  Our class is comprised of forty-eight tech-driven individuals who are eager to learn, and Tech901 is excited to shine some light on one student weekly. Enjoy!

Our first student to highlight is native Memphian, Tecia Garrett Marshall.  Marshall is the Student Services Specialist for Booker T. Washington High School, where she wears many hats including graduation coach, community outreach contact, standardized testing coordinator and business/technology teacher.

Tech901 is very excited to have Marshall enrolled in the CompTIA A+ summer course, as well as the Network+ and Security+ second session.

Having a notable passion for technology, Marshall hopes to gain formal, entry-level IT knowledge. “All things tech come naturally to me, and a lot of what I know is self-taught.  This is my entryway into formally educating myself,” she shares with Tech901, “I like to know how things work, how to fix things.  I’m a troubleshooter.  I love hacking!”

In addition to her role at Booker T. Washington, Marshall is also the Memphis chapter lead for Black Girls CODE and over Tech/Communication for Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Her favorite Memphis hotspots include The Bubble Bistro, an all-natural body boutique at 425 N. Watkins in Midtown and Cafe Eclectic on N. McLean; however, you can likely find her at any Starbucks with a laptop, earbuds, iPad, and a Kimberla Roby book.
