Over the summer, we will highlight a student weekly from our CompTIA A+ certification course at the FedEx Institute of Technology at the University of Memphis. Our class is comprised of forty-eight tech-driven individuals who are eager to learn, and Tech901 is excited to shine some light on one student weekly. Enjoy!

Today, we would love to introduce to you our student and local artist, Andrea Powell! A Memphis native with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Andrea currently works as a Computer Lab Technician for Shelby County Schools.

Powell enjoys the vast possibilities that technology can provide, turning new concepts into reality. “We’re now able to communicate and work with people on the other side of the planet, without ever booking a flight to see them in person. We can see things from microscopic levels to completely separate galaxies,” she shares.

Through the Tech901 CompTIA A+ and Network+ courses, Powell hopes to become much more knowledgeable on the ins and outs of computers. She wishes to help herself advance further in a Memphis tech job after attaining her certifications.

As a part of the local art scene, Powell attends various art openings around the city. In addition, you can find Powell visiting the numerous museums around the Midtown and Downtown areas. She boasts her favorite local restaurant to be DeJaVu on S. Main Street and never misses the city’s crawfish festivals in the Spring.
